Brother John: Cary, NC, United States; This blog is just the latest iteration in what's basically been a lifelong hobby; earlier incarnations of which have included a deejaying a local music radio show, publishing a large-distribution indie zine, and writing a music column for a weekly newspaper. It's also an outlet for what are basically my two favorite pastimes, writing and photography - three if you count live music. Occasionally, you might read something here about other subjects that enter my current field of view – autism, NOLA, science, etc. But How Strange... is, basically, a music blog concentrating on the vibrant scene here in the Triangle of NC. After seeing probably thousands of live shows, from Public Enemy to the Pixies (OG, not pay-for-the-kids'-college reunions), I’m somewhat amazed that I still LOVE live music, and STILL discover music that sounds “new” to me. My hope is that you’ll go see some of the bands you read about here, buy their music, and maybe be inspired to create something of your own. - Brother John (crabdoctor2@gmail.com)
